Demographics:
Epilepsy or a seizure disorder is a neurological disorder. It briefly interrupts the normal function of the brain. A person with epilepsy has had two or more seizures. The seizures are brief. The brain experiences excessive surges of electrical activity. Due to the seizures, the person experiences a change in how he/she feels, senses things or behaves.
Did you know that seizures affect about 2.3 million Americans? Did you know that about 360,000 persons in Florida have epilepsy or a seizure disorder? And did you know that about 45,000 persons with epilepsy live in West Central Florida?
That is a lot of people to help. That is the reason the Epilepsy Services Foundation is present in West Central Florida and why the volunteers work to raise funds for persons affected by this disorder. |
